Lourdes Pilgrimage Collection Thank you.

On  March 4th - 5th a church gate collection in aid of the Dublin Diocesan Children's Pilgrimage to Lourdes  was held and it was very well supported. Thank you for your kindness.  A very generous sum of €3,300 was raised.

This year, three members of our parish OLV Young Adult Group will be travelling as helpers on this pilgrimage. For over 40 years, this special pilgrimage has been a chance to bring a large group of children aged 8-14 to Lourdes. On Easter Monday we will be bringing a group of 22 children with social, emotional and physical needs for one week to Lourdes. The week allows them to have an experience of Lourdes in all its dimensions, where they can enjoy themselves, and offers many children an opportunity to be children again, as many have had to grow up very fast. Each child on the pilgrimage has their own helper assigned to them, to support them along the journey. I have travelled for the past two years, and seen the amazing experiences that children can have on this trip. Fr. Fintan has travelled for many years on this pilgrimage, as one of the 3 dedicated chaplains. We also travel with doctors and nurses, and volunteers who give of their own time to help this project become a reality. The adult helpers pay their own fares and everything is done on a voluntary basis. We fundraise so that the children travel free of charge. All money raised will go directly towards the children's fares and any activities they may take part in while involved in the pilgrimage. I would like to thank you for the generosity you have shown to our pilgrimage in the past. Your generosity and support is so appreciated.
