Great success

Saturday 6th May the Gospel Choir travelled to Navan to compete in the 38th Navan Choral Festival. The Choir were also invited to sing at the 6pm Vigil Mass in St. Mary’s Navan, where Fr. Fintan concelebrated with  Fr. Robert McCabe CC from St. Mary’s parish. On Sunday 7th May, the Choir competed in three competitions, the first was the Popular Music Competition where they were competing with nine other choirs and the second competition was the Gospel Choir competition where they were competing with 5 other choirs. In both competitions they won 1st place. In the gospel choir competition they were awarded a score of 95 which is the highest mark the judge has ever awarded a choir.

In the evening the choir competed in the final competition, "The National Choir of the Year", where they were awarded 2nd place, just 2 points short of 1st place.

We would like to thank the parish community for all the support and encouragement the choir receives and the choir are always delighted and proud to represent OLV at a national level among choirs from all over the country. We would also like to thank Fr. Fintan for his consistent support of the choir and its development.
