Do This In Memory

Do This in Memory programme was launched, together with our Family Mass, on Sunday 1st  October 2017. There was a great turnout of boys and girls and it's still not too late to register your child! Simply contact our school chaplain, Jo McGlynn, through the parish office. Because DTIM is a parish based sacramental preparation programme for children preparing for First Communion, it doesn't matter whether or not your child is in one of our parish schools, or in school elsewhere. As long as you are part of our faith community in Our Lady of Victories, then you are more than welcome - even if your First Communion ceremony is taking place in another parish.

DTIM takes place in the context of the parish Sunday Eucharist. It is then continued in the home through the use of activities and resources for both parents/guardians and children. This highlights the importance of the Sunday Eucharist as a celebration where we gather, are nourished by the Word and the Bread of Life, and are sent forth to live the Gospel. It also acknowledges the home as the most important and significant place, where the faith of our children is nurtured, nourished and sustained. The THUMB magazine is a great resource for parents to help their children understand the Liturgy more fully.

The ‘Do This in Memory' Communion preparation programme takes place in our parish once a month at the 12 noon Family Mass on Sundays. But apart from the dates below, please do come along to the Family Mass on other Sundays too....we're there every week!

Sunday, 25 October 2015 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday, 22 November 2015 Feast of Christ King

Sunday, 13 December 2015 3rd Sunday of Advent

Sunday, 24 January 2016 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday, 21 February 2016 2nd Sunday in Lent

Sunday, 20 March 2016 Palm Sunday

Sunday, 10 April 2016 3rd Sunday of Easter

Sunday, 29 May 2016 Feast of Corpus Christi.......... First Holy Communion Day

Some of these dates may change but parents/guardians will be given sufficient advance warning. The Do this in Memory programme for children and their parents preparing for First Holy Communion is well worth the effort and you are encouraged to attend one Do this in Memory Mass/Ceremony each month. Jo will text the parents as a reminder coming up to each DTIM Sunday, so please do text her back to let her know if you'll be attending. This is very important, as she needs to know numbers in order to prepare materials, etc. Congratulations to all the children who made their First Holy Communion last May.
